I have a treat of a birth story with intervention for you today. All thanks to Jen and Jamie. Their birth was drawn out and required some intervention towards the end. Reading this just shows what a positive impact preparing properly for your birth has on your experience.
To Jen and Jamie, Thank you for signing up, it was lovely getting to know you both and an honour to help empower you with knowledge.
‘Hello Emily,
I hope you are well.
Super happy to say that Joseph Wilf was born Friday 24 April at 5.19am weighing 7.7lbs. Completing the babies from our group!
Labour was bloody tough, with contractions starting Tuesday evening and only progressing to established labour Thursday evening. The early part of labour was manageable with the wonders of aromatherapy, birthing pool and gas and air. Oh my gas and air is amazing – the things Jamie said I was coming out with we’re hilarious! However, we did face some challenges in the pushing phase, eventually needing to be moved over to the central birthing suite for intervention with the ventose.
The midwives and team are Poole were amazing and we even had the special moment of clapping for our NHS heroes mid labour – something I’ll never forget.
We hope you are keeping well. Thank you Emily, it really helped to have covered intervention in detail in your class. It was naturally a little scary when we first realised we needed to go down the route of intervention, but by us having the prior knowledge of what it involved and the risks really helped make a quick decision in the moment and understand what was happening.
Please feel free to share. And once again thank you for the course.
Best wishes
Jen and Jamie
